This is what happens when we have a President with whom even Chief Justice John Roberts has to agree!
Now health care reform can proceed making it possible for 30 more million people to be covered, taking the burden off of individual citizens as well as the health care providers.
People who use emergency health care can add ONE TO TWO THOUSAND to what you pay for your individual health care plans (with or without the help of an employer).
Individuals who cannot afford to buy it will be helped by grants. People who HAVE health insurance through your job you keep it. People can now join exchanges designed to help bring costs down by allowing groups to cover more people. People who are jerks (the same ones who skate without auto insurance) will still try and dump their health care costs on others.
That is NOT individual responsibility that is individual irresponsibility. So get busy, tell everyone what this law REALLY means.
Yes, single payer is appealing, might have been better. THIS was the politics of the possible in the bitter partisan climate in our country.
Republican Mitt Romney who SUPPORTED a similar bill as Governor of Massachusetts will attack it and backs repeal with is insanity married to the inane. He is already spreading the lies—YOU can keep your health insurance; it is not a tax on you in general, it is a specific penalty on scofflaws. What a hypocrite.
Remember, individual aspects of the law are VERY popular even if the whole is demonized. This is a law to protect.
